Shorashim is the organization's flagship program. An ongoing educational program combining agricultural volunteering, values learning, and community projects throughout the school year. The program is designed for high schools, preparatory programs, yeshivas, and religious seminaries, enabling students to build identity, sense of responsibility, and mutual responsibility through consistent field work, through an educational process with depth and persistence.
The program combines agricultural work with theoretical content. Activity takes place on a fixed day each week, coordinated continuously between a representative from Hiburim B’Haklaut and a coordinator from the institution. Each session includes about five hours of agricultural fieldwork (including break), accompanied by an agricultural-educational instructor from us and according to farmers' changing needs. Additionally, educational and study content is delivered throughout the program on various topics: meaning and value of agricultural work, ecology and environment, familiarity with technological developments in agriculture, and more. Content delivery is coordinated with the educational institution and understanding of its needs and requests.
Hiburim B’Haklaut is responsible for mission matching, trip organization, field accompaniment by an organization instructor, and all logistical arrangements. There is an institution participation cost per activity day, payable through the Ministry of Education's "Gefen" system.
The institution is asked to provide a staff member to accompany the project educationally and operationally.
The program is designed for 9th grade students and above.
